Digital Storytelling

What another great way to have students collaborate with each other and work as a team to create a digital story!

Students are able to let their imaginations run by being given the opportunity to create their own short story. They can use various means of technology to create their story. This would be a great project for students to work on together-encouraging and pushing collaboration. An awesome way to teach children how to work together but at the same time, a great way of incorporating technology.

Creating digital stories can be easy and fun! This website lets you either upload pictures or draw them on a template the website provides (Art Pad)! As you add your images, you hit the record button to tell the story! Finally, you're able to watch your digital story and share it for others to see.

A digital story can be anything students want to put together to tell a story. Whether it is of themselves, a field trip, vacation, or an adventure-this is a great tool children can use to work with together and brainstorm creative ideas and then put it together to share with others.

  2. You might add to this blog post my making links to some of the other digital storytelling posts from classmates. Some also had embedded videos. What are your future plans for creating a digital story? Do you think you might make one related to global education?

  4. I think this brings a whole new aspect of digital storytelling to more of a movie making approach. Having students able to see themselves live would offer a different experience. I have had students rehearsing puppet shoes to practice fluency and retention, to have them be able to watch themselves and hear their fluency would be a valuable asset.

  6. Very cute. I like how it is interactive and grabs your attention. This is a fun way to read. The collaboration is great to teach students its importance in reading. Great tool! This made me think about my own ideas of digital storytelling and how the basic concept of digital storytelling can be taken a step further. I am eager to begin this project!

  7. I love the digital story. I would love to share this with the teachers in Kindergarten and First grade at my school. So colorful and adorable! Parents must have loved it. I am excited to start my digital story and keep changing my idea based on the great stories I view online. I can see how motivated the students are and how excited they are to learn how to read collaboratively. I agree with Brianna, it would be a great tool for students to hear their own fluency. They can listen for expression in their own voices and from their peers reading aloud.
